Steve Jobs introduces the Apple Smart Phone that runs OSX, has no keyboard and plays music, movies and runs real software.

My two favorite places to watch MacWorld live from my laptop:

Mac Rumors Live and Engadet's live feed from the Moscone Center:

F.Y.I.
Tech Geek Alert: Our blog entry on MacWorld and CES is a different kind of blog posting. - it's a dynamic posting that will always have the last 100 items written by journalsits and bloggers filing from CES in LasVegas and MacWorld in SF.

robb - this is like the video i posted awhile ago!

Quote:
10:14am - I can just take my fingers and I can move them together and further apart, and make the photo bigger or smaller." HUGE applause -- touch gesturing apparently really hit a chord with these people.

Um, this is huge yall.

Steve just made the Times Reader obsolete.

Quote:
Now I want to show you somethign incredible, I want to show you Safari running on a mobile device. I'm going to load in the NYT, rather than just give you the WAP version, we're showing you the WHOLE NYT web site. I can put this into landscape mode and there it is, I can scroll up and down here..."

The resolution is unbelievable looking from back here. We don't yet know the dimensions, but It looks unbelievably fine grained.

10:23am - "I can double-tap and it'll zoom in -- I can make this text bigger if I want to, and there it is. Isn't this cool? There is the New York Times. Unbelievable.

look at this thing. it's so unlike the big bulky lights blinking lt. uhura ear pieces.

apple = simple.

and here comes the price...

Quote:
"What should we price it at? For a 4GB model we're pricing it at $499 -- no premium whatsoever.

"We're going to have an 8GB model for just $599."

Steve again . .

Quote:
We've been pushing the state of the art in every facet of this design. We've got the multi-touch screen, miniaturization, OS X in a mobile device, precision enclosures, three advanced sensors, desktop class applications, and the widescreen video iPod. We filed for over 200 patents for all the inventions in iPhone and we intend to protect them."

Good news (for me anyways) is that it is Cingular and that means a SIM card which means this stands a strong possibility for being a world phone. I mean assuming that Apple will let you get the thing unlocked!

$500 when they come out in June.

This replaces a lot of my mobile gadgetry when I travel so I am keen on it.

Wonder if there is a video out so I can deliver presentation videos with it . . Hmm might not need to bring a laptop ever again for training talks. Now that would be sweet.

uh... you'll probably want to hang on to your laptop for that kind of stuff still.
