OK. This page has been making the rounds in via links in the chat room and the SPORTS designer has even posted this page and, well, I'm stealing it back because it's a features page after all.

What do you think? The women I have shown it to all like this page has said: "Clever. - the black cord forming the hip is elegant"; "Feminine, yet provocative"; "Those light bulbs are a great analogy for their (Porn Queen's) phony breast implants . . ."

So without further delay here is the Cleveland Plain Dealer page by Andrea Levy and Staci Andrews.

I think the page is terribly clever and a great way of illustrating a tough subject. That said, I'm just curious if it caused any sort of angry reader response -- it's not that subtle.

EDIT: Just noticed the NPD response. It's good to know that you can get away with something like that in Cleveland

That page would get my paper burned to the ground, but I like it.

If I say I like it, and I'm a guy, does that make me a pervert? I'm just sayin...

VERY clever, and very nice and I'm insanely jealous. Can I get Andrea and Stacey's OK to steal this idea when I move to the Fort Myers News-Press next month???

PLEASE????

A great illustration, very clever. I like it tons.

Now if we can keep our nation's absurd puritanical tendencies in check ...

another designer here and I were talking about this illo last week. we both agreed that it was just wonderful. though she pointed out that the point where it starts to get questionable is the tangle of cord forming the, ahem, pubic region. personally, i don't think that it is questionable at all, but i think that anyone who would be offended by it would find it less offensive sans cord tangle.

Enjoy your move to The News-Press all the same and say hi to everyone for me. (I interened there for three weeks at the end of high school.)

This is one of those ideas where you either go all the way, or you don't do it at all. So with that said, I absolutely love this page. Some of the reactions I've heard in private e-mail include "disgusting." But I don't find it disgusting at all. One of our copy editors (male) said it was a bit over the top while another designer (female) thought it was funny.

Megan, this would probably be a "NO BRAINER" in Europe or SA. It's only here where we have to qualify something as exceptional and interesting as this page. Its fun, eye-catching, and creative without being salacious or embarassing.
