Managing editor Dan Suwyn, who has worked here for the past decade, resigned on Tuesday. He has been a great advocate for design in the newsroom. He plans to stay in Savannah and focus on other ventures. We're all sad to see him go.
Vive la Suwyn! He, and the rest of you guys, took my hometown paper to great heights.
Here's hoping y'all keep it up, whatever (and whoever) Morris throws at you...

Definitely have to agree with this. I mean 12 years ago, Savannah wasn't even the MAP for quality journalism and design. Dan made some excellent hires over the years. I worked with some great reporters there (who unfortunately have moved on) who really bought into the variety of storytelling techiniques Dan wanted to use.
Plus, to say I worked with quality planners/designers there is an understatement. I never even knew what planning was until I started working there.
I'm proud to call many of them my friends, and I know they would echo my statements when I say "Thanks to Dan" for bringing us together. None of us would have probably met or worked together as closely as we did if it were for Dan. _________________ Cheesy Charlie’s is great. What a loss for the paper (and the readers) in Savannah. Dan taught me so much in 3 years in Fort Wayne it's mind-boggling. I bet the other venture is going to be really cool ... _________________ Live like it...
This was truelly a sad day for Savannah.
I wish I could have gotten to know Dan better and learn from him like so many of you have. I did not realize the scope at which Suwyn had influenced newspapers. Now, I feel truely lucky to have been hired by him and for the short time spent working under him!
